Deep-Fried Strawberry Cheesecake Wonton Bites Recipe

Ingredients

For the Cheesecake Filling:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup fresh strawberries, diced

For the Wonton Wrappers:

  • 20-24 wonton wrappers

For Frying:

  • Vegetable oil, for frying

For the Cinnamon Sugar Coating:

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ tsp cinnamon

Optional for Serving:

  • Strawberry jam
  • Whipped cream

Instructions

1. Prepare the Cheesecake Filling:

  1. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.
  2. Beat the mixture with a hand mixer or whisk until smooth and creamy.
  3. Gently fold in the diced strawberries, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the mixture. Set the filling aside.

2. Assemble the Wontons:

  1. Place a wonton wrapper on a clean, flat surface.
  2. Scoop about 1 teaspoon of the cheesecake filling and place it in the center of the wonton wrapper.
  3. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water using your fingertip or a small brush.
  4. Fold the wrapper into your desired shape—triangle, pouch, or any sealed design. Press firmly along the edges to ensure the wonton is fully sealed.
  5. Repeat the process with the remaining wonton wrappers and filling.

3. Fry the Wontons:

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot or skillet until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to maintain a consistent temperature.
  2. Gently place a few wontons into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pot.
  3. Fry for 1-2 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  4. Using a slotted spoon, remove the wontons from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

4. Coat with Cinnamon Sugar:

  1. In a small bowl, mix the granulated sugar and cinnamon.
  2. While the wontons are still warm, toss them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture, ensuring they are evenly coated.

5. Serve:

  1. Arrange the wontons on a serving platter.
  2. Serve warm with a side of strawberry jam or whipped cream for dipping.
