Homemade Amish Sweet Bread Recipe

Ingredients:

2 c water

2/3 c sugar

1 1/2 tbsp yeast

1 1/2 tsp salt

1/4 c vegetable oil

5 1/2 to 6 c All-purpose flour

Directions:

Step 1: Allow 2 cups of water to boil.

Step 2: Add the sugar and stir until well mixed.

Step 3: Add yeast and allow it to sit for 10 minutes.

Step 4: Add salt and oil. Stir until well combined.

Step 5: Add flour gradually and stir every addition.

Step 6: Knead the ball of dough for 5 minutes on a floured flat surface.

Step 7: Apply cooking spray in a large mixing bowl.

Step 8: Put the dough into the bowl, then cover it with a damp towel. Allow the dough to rise for at least 1 hour.

Step 9: Slice the dough into two even pieces.

Step 10: Apply cooking spray in a loaf pan.

Step 11: Put the dough into the prepared pan.

Step 12: Allow the dough to rest for 30 minutes more at room temperature.

Step 13: Place them inside the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes or until done.

Step 14: Remove from the oven and allow them to cool at room temperature.

Step 15: Serve warm and enjoy!
